how to cook/idk/idk: soumen 素麺

Posting a recipe today!!
Taught by my host mum a few weeks ago~
Here's what soumen is, from the wikipedia..
Soumen is a Bengali male name, which means "best (king) among the beautiful people". Soumen is derived from "soumendra" which is obtained by joining of two words: "soumya" ("beautiful") and "Indra" ("the greatest", "the king"). Soumen is also a synonym of Lord Shiva.

So yes. Kings are really easy to make, and I'll share the method today..

Okay kidding. Here's the real thing from wiki..

Sōmen (?) are very thin, white Japanese noodles made of wheat flour. The noodles are usually served cold and are less than 1.3 mm in diameter. The distinction between sōmen and the next thicker wheat noodles hiyamugi and even thicker Japanese wheat noodles udon is mostly the size of the noodle. Somen noodles are stretched when made, as are some types of udon noodles.
Sōmen are usually served cold with a light flavored dipping sauce or tsuyu. The tsuyu is usually a katsuobushi-based sauce that can be flavored with Welsh onion, ginger, or myoga. In the summer, sōmen chilled with ice is a popular meal to help stay cool.
Sōmen served in hot soup is usually called "nyumen" and eaten in the winter, much like soba or udon are.

Ok actually you don't even need to do so much wth this is so unnecessary the post is slightly meh..
but yeah, just beause it's easy..

Easy to make and yum yum for summer!
(Or everyday life in Singapore LOLOL)

Ingredients:
- Soumen noodles
- Things you would like to eat with it:
e.g. (from this post) eggs, ham, cucumber
- Tsuyu (Sauce you dip soumen in)

So yeah.. Sorry, I don't know how to make noodles, nor do I know how to make tsuyu.. but you can google..

The soumen packets probably look something like this..
Though it really differs cus there is a variety..

And well, these noodles are 揖保乃糸 (いぼのいと i bo no ito)

 From Hyogo!

Used probably like one bunch.. or two, cus it was just two people eating..
And it's low in carbs anyway, tee. hee. Okay that's not the reason but anyway.

Well, let's start...

1. Boil some water
It's just gonna be used to cook the noodles so yeah have however much you think it's right.. Hah

2. While waiting for water to boil, chop up your ingredients!
Cucumber: Slice them per normal but thinly..

Then with the pieces stack a few up and cut them together into long pretty sticks..

Ham: Buy some ham. OK JK..

Slice them in thin pieces as well, approximately the same width as the cucumber..

(Days where auto focus just fails on you.. Sorry I'm counting on auto too much with my dirty hands)

Egg: Use however much you need, used one..

Mix it up..

Then, split the mixture into small portions (we split it into three) for thinner pieces.
Cook them up! Please try to make them identical/similar~

It's okay if it's ugly.. Jodie can't do it very nice Q_Q

My failed egg Q_Q meh

Then stack em and roll em up!

You can guess what happens next..
Slice..
Into thin strips..

Okay in fact I didn't even get to slice the eggs till I finished cooking my noodles because it boils pretty fast..

Anyway,

3. Place the noodles in the boiling water!

Have it in for two minutes or so..
No, not one minute and forty-nine seconds.

Afterwards, get your noodles out of the boiling water and rinse with cold water!
Lest you like it warm o_O no the summer is too hot NO

4. Done

Place your noodles nicely into a nice big bowl and fill it with ice to keep the noodles nice and cold

Place your nicely sliced shizza on a nice plate and take a nice picture..

As well as a picture of the couple!

Don't forget Tsuyu!

There we go~ Yumyumyum!

Soumen is actually sooo good.. And low in calories ngeheheheh..

Sorry, you probably could figure out how to make this without reading anything =.=
Meh..

Hope you liked it anyway~
